WARSAW — Working on a homework assignment after library hours? Looking for lesson plan ideas? Your digital Warsaw Community Public Library can help, even when the downtown Warsaw Community Public Library is closed. Begin your virtual trip to the library at www.warsawlibrary.org/reference. Have your library card handy: It is the key that unlocks a treasure trove of free, reliable information online.
Scholastic GO is a virtual reference shelf of encyclopedias, dictionaries, and atlases for K-12 students and educators. You can search over 100,000 articles covering every core curriculum subject, including countries, states, cultures, current events, history, and animals. Scholastic GO incorporates a Spanish-language encyclopedia too. An excellent resource for your research projects, homework assignments, and lesson plans, Scholastic GO is free through the library’s website.
The Kids Edition of CultureGrams offers “a kid’s-eye view of daily life in countries around the world.” CultureGrams is another great way to satisfy your curiosity for facts about the world or to complete a school report. Our subscription to World Book Online puts whole encyclopedias at your fingertips. Head to the library’s website any time of day or night to get started with either of these resources.
We also want to inspire you to take advantage of INSPIRE, Indiana’s Virtual Online Library for all residents. This service of the Indiana State Library offers even more options for homework help or lesson planning. Explora, for example, is another vast online encyclopedia for schoolchildren and educators.
TeachingBooks.net offers literature-related materials to enrich your reading experience. Both resources, plus many, many more, are available free online through INSPIRE. Look for the INSPIRE link on our website.
WCPL can be there for you 24 hours a day, at home or on the go. For more information about using our digital library to support K-12 learning, visit www.warsawlibrary.org or call us at (574) 267-6011.
