CCMLK Announces Third Annual Black History Month Student Art Display
WARSAW—The Committee to Commemorate Martin Luther King is proud to announce the fourth annual Black History Month Art Display. This year’s display will again be hosted by the Wagon Wheel Center for the Arts and will feature student artwork from Warsaw Community Schools celebrating the life and teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Student art may be seen in the lobby of the Wagon Wheel Center for the Arts from Feb. 1 through Feb. 28, during regular box office hours. February box office hours are Tuesday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. There are additional opportunities for the public to see the exhibit as they attend programming at the theatre. Snow White and the Dancing Dwarfs will be performed by the Wagon Wheel Jr. program Feb. 2 through 4; magician Justin Flom performs on Feb. 16 and Wedding from Hell, an audience-participatory murder mystery, is on Feb. 24.
“We are happy that this art display continues to be a partnership between the CCMLK, Warsaw Schools and the Wagon Wheel,” stated John Bryan Lowe, president of the CCMLK board. “It’s a great way to celebrate Dr. King beyond his recognized holiday, to commemorate Black History Month and also to showcase the arts in our community.”
Black History Month was first recognized by the U.S. government in 1976. The month of February serves as a period of remembrance to honor influential African-Americans throughout history and encourage the continued practice of human equality and civil rights in our country.
