An officer was on patrol near the area of Best Western when he saw a vehicle with its running lights activated. The officer went to the vehicle and found Benedict in the driver’s seat. Upon further investigation, officers found meth on Benedict’s person.
According to court documents, Benedict said she obtained the meth from a hotel room in Best Western. Officers went to the room and a woman, later identified as Jackson, answered the officers at the room’s door and provided a false name. Thomas, Brickey, and Pickens were also in the hotel room.
Jackson had a warrant for her arrest and was immediately taken into custody. Thomas, Brickey, and Pickens all said they did not want to speak with officers.
After receiving a search warrant for the room, officers found meth, four hypodermic needles, and drug paraphernalia.
Thomas, Brickey, Pickens, Jackson, and Benedict were all arrested on Jan. 9.
