Special Summer Reading Event At Milford Public Library

MILFORD — Join Milford Public Library staff for Didgeridoo Down Under, a virtual program starting Monday, July 12. The program is available from July 12-17 via Zoom link. Sign up at any circulation desk to receive link. Join as Rob Thomas plays an assortment of didgeridoos and introduces viewers to the unique sounds of Australia. Learn about the animals from the outback from koala’s to kangaroos, the history of the didgeridoo, and Aboriginal culture. He combines music, culture, comedy and storytelling to educate about the wonderful land of Australia. Plan to watch the Zoom program with the whole family.
Virtual Story Time – Australia, July 16
G’day mate. Join the library staff on Zoom at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 16, as Carol Haab reads tales about Australia. The whole family is welcome for summer Story Time. Each family who attends the Zoom session will receive a copy of “Where’s My Joey” by Wendy Monica Winter, while supplies last. This is a heartwarming story of a mother kangaroo that has lost her joey. The book follows her search and introduces children to the animals of Australia as she speaks to them about her Joey. Pick up a free book at the library after Story Time. The staff is excited for you to join them on Zoom. Registration is required to receive free books. No library card needed.
Australia Activity Packet, July 12-17
Starting Monday, reading program participants can pick up this week’s Australian-themed activity packet. This week’s treat is Cheezels, which is a favorite Australian snack. The Australian packets include the following: fact pages about the country, recipe for “fairy toast,” animal coloring pages, a 3-D crocodile craft, platypus puppet or bookmark craft and much more. Pick up children’s preschool and K-5 packets at the children’s circulation desk. Complete five activities and enter a drawing to win a prize. Teen packets are available in the adult department and have a snack in addition to a project. Once completed, they may enter a drawing for a gift card.

Free Lunches In Parking Lot
Lunches are available for pick up in the library parking lot from 11:45 to 12:30 p.m. Monday and Thursday through Aug. 5. On Mondays, receive breakfast and lunch for three days and Thursday’s pickup will contain breakfast and lunch for two days. The lunches are pre-bagged and pre-packaged and provide nutritious food for children. The Wawasee School Corporation provides lunches. This is a free program for anyone 18 and younger. No library card or registration required.
‘Where’s Edgar Allen Gnome?’ – Week Six
Edgar Allen Gnome has found an excellent place to read his book. Can you guess where he is? Correct guesses will be entered into a weekly drawing for a gift card. Submit guesses to [email protected] or in person at a circulation desk by 6 p.m. Fridays. Winners are announced on Mondays.
