Geneaology Course And More At North Webster Library
NORTH WEBSTER — A Beginning Genealogy Course and more are upcoming at North Webster Community Public Library.
Have you ever wondered who your ancestors were or where they came from? Sign up for the Beginning Genealogy Course at North Webster Community Public Library and learn how to get started researching your family ancestry. This four-class course will be taught 5:30 p.m. Mondays, Feb. 3, 10, 17 and 24. You will learn about genealogy websites and other resources, how to find information online as well as in libraries and courthouses, genealogy standards and terms, research techniques, how to organize your research and much more. The course is free, but pre-registration is required. Sign up at the circulation desk or call (574) 834-7122 to reserve your seat, said a news release from North Webster Community Public Library.
You can also sign up for the Mixed Media Workshop taught by artist Golden Seaton 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3. She will guide you in making a coffee art collage using watercolors, repurposed papers and other items. The workshop costs $15 with all supplies included. Pre-registration with non-refundable payment is currently being accepted at the circulation desk. The workshop is for adults only.
The yarn crafting group Knit 1 Crochet 2 meets 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4 to learn how to make a crochet necklace from Phyllis Burnsworth. The group will also be making chemo hats for cancer patients throughout February and March. Anyone interested in participating in this service project is welcome to join the group or make chemo hats at home and donate them. Yarn donations are also appreciated.
If you have a child enrolled in North Webster Elementary School, stop by the library’s information table during parent/teacher conferences 3:30 – 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6 and learn about the free educational resources available in the library’s Youth Service Department.
