WCS Payroll Coordinator Recalls Rise Through The Ranks
WARSAW — Each month, a staff member of Warsaw Community Schools is profiled during the monthly meeting of the corporation’s board of trustees. Historically, central office personnel have been the focus of these presentations. According to Superintendent Dr. David Hoffert, such presentations will be expanded in the future to feature staff from throughout the school district.
On Tuesday, March 12, the board met for a work session and was introduced to Payroll Coordinator Kristen Heiman.
“I’ve been with Warsaw Community Schools about 10 years,” said Heiman. “The very first thing I did was coach softball.”
According to Heiman, she was then recruited as a paraprofessional at Eisenhower Elementary School and was later transferred to Madison Elementary School. Throughout her journey, Heiman served as a digital learning specialist and also filled a role as a recruiter with human resources. Other roles filled by Heiman included a stint with Gateway Education Center.
“Our payroll coordinator left, so I came back to help and I’m still here,” she said.
Hoffert praised Heiman for her work with payroll, touting her ability to make pay changes seem effortless.
“While it seems seamless on all our parts, it just shows up very quickly and you’re the one who has to go in and do a lot of things people don’t think about,” he said.
