Conrad Outing Gearing For Second Go-Round
SYRACUSE – Set your calendars for Monday, July 30, as the second running of the Kim and Stephen Conrad Golf Fundraiser will take place.
Scheduled for morning and afternoon flights at Maxwelton Golf Club, the Conrad outing will continue to pursue serving the community while honoring both Kim and Stephen as their memory and impact carries on in the community.
Entry for the event is $400 per team of four, which includes lunch for all players, 18 holes of golf plus cart on the legendary Maxwelton course, 50/50 putting contest, men’s and women’s longest drive, longest putt, closest to the pin and hole-in-one prize opportunities. The four-man scramble is a shotgun start for both sessions.
The event’s net proceeds will go into the Kim and Stephen Conrad Scholarship Fund, which goes to a Wawasee High School graduate attending college to become a teacher. There is also a scholarship for a student who excelled in golf, basketball, cheerleading or gymnastics, all sports the Conrads were involved with in their time at the high school.
Stephen was a basketball player, but was more known as a standout golfer, working all the way into the early professional ranks while in college and into his time living in Arizona. He was working at the Anthem Golf and Country Club outside Phoenix when he came home to Syracuse for Christmas in 2016.
Kim was beloved in Syracuse and beyond, between her coaching gymnastics and cheerleading and later working as an IHSAA gymnastics official. Conrad was also a realtor and was a teacher at Syracuse Elementary School. The two passed away in a car accident just a few blocks from Wawasee High School on Christmas night. The shockwaves reverberated through the community for much longer.
