NORTH WEBSTER — A four-class beginning genealogy course will be held at the North Webster Public library at 10:30 a.m. every Tuesday in Oct. beginning Oct. 4. In this course, individuals will learn the standards for genealogy, how to find information online and in libraries, research techniques and strategies, how to interpret and organize the information found, plus much more. The course is taught by the library’s Local History and Genealogy Center Director Beth Smith. The course is free, but pre-registration is required to attend. Individuals may sign up at the Circulation Desk or by calling (574) 834-7122 to reserve a seat in the class.
The Voyager Book Club will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 26. Participants will share and discuss fiction books that each has read. In this book club, everyone reads a book of their choice within an assigned genre.
Revolving Recipe Round-Up will be held at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 27. Everyone will gather to share their honey recipes and sample other’s culinary creations. Individuals should prepare a dish with honey as an ingredient and join for a good time of food and fellowship. The library supplies the table service and coffee.
Preschool story time will be held every Wednesday morning at 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. from now through Nov. 16 (with the exception of Nov. 9). Geared to ages three to five, the fall session focuses on pets as the youngsters learn through stories, activities and crafts.
Another make it/take it craft day will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, in the youth services department. Children can drop in to make a Bicentennial Torch craft to commemorate the Indiana Bicentennial Torch relay that will pass through North Webster the day before.
To encourage participation in the Indiana Bicentennial Torch Relay that will pass through North Webster at approximately noon on Thursday, Sept. 29, the North Webster Library will close at 11:30 a.m. and re-open after the torch has passed through town. The library invites patrons to join its staff in observing this special Bicentennial celebration.
