Changes In Winona Lake Park
WINONA LAKE — Changes have come to Winona Lake park this summer. Concessions for patrons are now available at the Winona Lake Park office from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. The tennis courts and the basketball courts are also being redone.
While there are no hot food items, plenty other treats will be available for patrons of the park this summer. The stand now offers chips, ice cream novelties, drinks and snow cones. All these items are available at the Winona Lake Park office.
As of right now, the concessions are open from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Winona Lake Park Department Director Holly Hummitch said she would love to have longer hours during the summer, but she does not have have enough people on staff for that to be possible at this time.
The park is in the process of redoing the basketball and tennis courts in Winona Lake. Funded by the K21 Foundation, tennis courts have be resurfaced and will have new nets, fencing and lighting. The courts have also been made to regulation size, as they were not previously. Fencing is planned to go in next week and ribbon cutting ceremony will follow next month. The basketball courts have been resurfaced and new hoops will be put in soon.
