Indiana Author Visit
On May 11, Indiana author and illustrator, David Slonim, visited area schools and presented a program at Milford Community building. Slonim lives in Anderson, Indiana and has illustrated twenty-four books and authored and illustrated four books. Slonim visited Syracuse Elementary and Milford School and had a presentation where he encouraged all the students to continue doing things they enjoy as children into adulthood.
Slonim told the crowd, “Talent is the willingness to keep trying until it’s right.” He talked about his experiences as an author Illustrator and how he has loved to draw since childhood. The students were familiar with Slonim’s books and really enjoyed meeting the author face-to-face. The evening program at the Community building was a great opportunity for adults to meet and author and ask questions. People were able to purchase a book and get it autographed.
This author visit was planned as part of Milford Public Library’s celebration of Indiana’s 200th birthday. Sponsors of the program are: Milford Public Library, Milford School, North Webster Elementary, Syracuse Elementary, The Papers, Inc., Anonymous, Friends of Milford Public Library and Kosciusko Literacy Services.
