NORTH WEBSTER — Can’t get away for spring break? The kids can still have fun at the library playing Family Bingo at 1 p.m. Monday, April 4. There’s always a good turn-out for this popular event that will be held in the North Webster Community Center Banquet Hall. It’s fun and easy to play for all ages with lots of prizes and chances to win.
The weekly Tuesday Crafts and Stories at 4 p.m. will continue during spring break for kids in grades K-5; while Preschool Story Time concludes its winter session at 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 6. Then wrap up the week with LEGO Club from 1-2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 9. Ages 5-12 are invited to unleash their creativity with free-styling LEGO building fun.
There is plenty to keep the adults busy, too. Spots are still available in the class Beginning Genealogy Course that begins at 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, and continues April 13, 20 and 27. Taught by the library’s Local History and Genealogy Center Director Beth Smith, this course is designed for beginners who want to get started researching their family history. Students will learn about information sources, genealogy websites, research techniques, do’s and don’ts, standards and terminology, and much more. The course is free, but pre-registration is required. Sign up at the circulation desk or call (574) 834-7122.
For seasoned genealogists, Glean Team meets earlier at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 6, to learn, share, and help each other on family history projects.
Sign up for the Make and Take Card Class scheduled at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 7, and learn how to make your own original greeting cards from instructor Hope Beezley. The $7 class fee includes all your card making supplies, plus you get to take home the cards you make in class. You can register for the class at the circulation desk or by calling (574) 834-7122.
If you’re planning a trip over spring break, audio books make great traveling companions in the car or on the plane. The library has a large selection of both adult and children’s audio books by popular authors in a variety of genres. Stop by the library and check some out before leaving on your trip.
