The Bell Memorial Public Library Board of Trustees would like to announce that Stephen Boggs has been officially hired to replace former director Krystal Smith, who retired on Dec. 31.
Boggs will build upon the many successes at the library by previous directors. To start, he has already created a small conference room at the very front of the library and refurbished one of the former daycare rooms into a large conference room, both for public use. He is currently in the middle of turning another of the former daycare rooms into a media center, which will house DVDs, audio books, reference, and genealogy materials as well as three additional computer stations. This will certainly help with current overcrowding in the main library.
Boggs comes to us from the New Carlisle Public Library where he was Library Director for nearly 30 years. Among his many achievements there: Boggs’ spearheaded the construction of a new 26,000 sq. ft. library building, which enabled the Town of New Carlisle to occupy the original 1921 Carnegie building. The New Carlisle Public Library was also recognized as a five-star library two times during his tenure.
Boggs looks forward to the continued challenges of meeting the needs of library patrons who are served by smaller libraries and to continue to integrate the library into the community.
