Milford Library Accepting Donations For Food Pantry
News Release
MILFORD — The Milford Public Library is accepting donations for the local food pantry until Dec. 18.
If you would like to bring in some canned goods, paper products or personal hygiene products, we have donation boxes upstairs and downstairs. The staff knows the last two years have been very challenging for many people in the community. This holiday season, the library staff wants to do what they can to help give back to the community that has supported the Library. There is a list of needed items posted on the front of the donation boxes. These do not have to be name-brand products; anything helps.
Weather Closings
Bad weather is just around the corner and chances are pretty good the library may have to close sometime during the winter season. Feel free to call (574) 658-4312 before leaving your home to see if the library is open, or watch WNDU-TV for closing announcements. Library officials will announce any delayed openings, early closings, or all day closings on WNDU-TV.
Staff is offering curbside service all this year, so call, request your materials, and staff members will bring them out of the south entrance to your car.
Knitting Club – Dec. 16
Join others in the Teen Area at the library from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 16. New or experienced knitters are welcome. This winter, work on a project or learn how to knit. A library card isn’t necessary to participate, but you can get one from the Adult Department if you’d like so you can check out the assortment of knitting books, filled with patterns and tutorials.
Christmas Treat Bag Available
Bring your children to the library for a Christmas Treat bag. They will be available Monday, Dec. 13 through Thursday, Dec. 23. The Milford Library Staff wishes all of the Milford community Happy Holidays.
If you are traveling for the holidays, or just want a fun activity to entertain your young holiday party-goers, the Holiday Treat bag has ornament crafts, snack, a sweet treat and stickers.
Holidays Around The World Virtual Program
The Milford Public Library is offering a free, virtual program for the month of December. ‘Tis the season of hilarity. When the tour guides for Worldwide Tours get separated, a worldwide adventure awaits. As they travel around the world in search of each other, the guides share holiday traditions from a wide variety of places and cultures. Learn about the Lohri Festival, St. Lucia Day, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Christmas, and more.
To access the video, first navigate to this website: https://brightstartheatre.vids.io/login then use these credentials: login: [email protected] Password: WizardOz2021
You can watch the program as many times as you would like. An email should have been received on Dec. 1 with login information for the program. Or call (574) 658-4312 to have the information emailed to you. The staff hopes everyone will enjoy learning about different holiday festivities.
Lego Challenge
December LEGO Challenge is to make a gingerbread person. Send a picture to the email below to be considered for this month’s prize drawing. Your gingerbread person can be 2D or 3D, monochrome or rainbow, or anything in between. Get creative and use your imagination.
Staff members are excited to see what is made. After you’ve built your gingerbread person, submit a photo to [email protected] by Dec. 27 for a chance to win a new Lego Kit. The winner will be picked by staff vote. No library card needed! This challenge is for children ages 18 & under.
Holiday Music And Movies
The library has many holiday favorites available to borrow this month. Checking out CDs or DVDs is a great way to entertain holiday guests.
Christmas music CDs are on display in the teen area. Look for “James Taylor,” “A Christmas Album,” “When Christmas Comes Around,” Kelly Clarkson, “Christmas,” Michael Bublé and “That’s Christmas to Me.” and Pentatonix.
Holiday DVDs are also on display in the teen area. Come in and check out “A Bad Moms Christmas,” “Disney’s Christmas Carol,” “Four Christmases” or “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.” Start a family tradition of watching a movie favorite on Christmas Eve or listening to music while baking Christmas cookies. If you don’t see what you are looking for, just ask library staff and they will be happy to help you.
