Parkview Warsaw YMCA Offering Free A1C Screens
News Release
WARSAW — The Parkview Warsaw YCA will be offering free A1C screens to test for prediabetes from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, and from 11:45 a.m. until 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 29 million adults in the United States have diabetes and 86 million adults have prediabetes. This means that one out of three people is at risk for type 2 diabetes and most may not even know it. To meet this need, the Parkview Warsaw YMCA is offering free A1C screens to everyone in the community, no YMCA membership is required.
After you are tested, YMCA staff will review the results with you and help determine your next steps. Those next steps include programs like the Diabetes Prevention Program, free nutrition seminars, blood pressure self-monitoring programs and discounts on YMCA memberships. These programs are designed to help you accomplish goals like losing 5-7% of your body weight, learning about healthy eating and increasing levels of physical activity all of which are essential in preventing or delaying the onset of type 2 diabetes.
Please pre-register online at www.kcymca.org or at the Parkview Warsaw YMCA Welcome Center to receive your free A1C screening. Walk-ins are welcome, but space is limited. Take the first step toward better health by registering today.
