By RENEA SALYER
Chamber Executive Director
Syracuse-Wawasee Chamber of Commerce announced its February Member of the Month — Turkey Creek Fire Territory.
Turkey Creek Fire Territory is comprised of two fire stations in Syracuse, one on Huntington Street and the other on McClintic Road. There are 16 paid staff of firemen and a firewoman who are cross-trained as emergency medical staff along with 20 local volunteers. The stations make four to five runs per day.
The fire territory offers free CPR training to the public. The next CPR training is at 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, at Station 1. Call (574) 457-4100 to sign up for the class. Classes are limited to 20 participants.
Members can come out to your facility and provide the class as well; call the territory to set up a time.
Turkey Creek Fire Territory will be hosting the Kosciusko County Firefighters Association monthly meeting Thursday, Feb. 20. As the host department this month, its members are in charge of providing food and door prizes. Normally, there are 50-70 firefighters from the 15 fire departments who are members of the Kosciusko County Firefighter Association. This includes all fire departments from Kosciusko County.
Members have the food planned but need to obtain door prizes. If there are any businesses that would like to provide a door prize for the meeting, call (574) 457-6917.
The department would like to extend a “thank you” to the businesses and taxpayers of the community for the outstanding support that has been shown, not only now, but over the years for as long as its members can remember. The support is invaluable to the department and it allows its members to provide the best emergency services possible.
The chamber is thankful for the Turkey Creek Fire Territory for all they do for this community.
