Injuries Detailed In Saturday Crash On US 30, One Person Admitted To ICU
WARSAW – A Saturday morning crash along US 30 on Dec. 28, 2019, injured four people, including one who is in the intensive care unit of a Fort Wayne hospital.
The accident at 8:17 a.m. involved a 2019 black Ford pickup headed east on US 30 and a white 2008 Ford truck headed west that was attempting to turn left at the US 30 and Anchorage Road intersection.
The driver of the Ford pickup, Lawrence Bradley, 32, of Dolton, Ill., said he did not remember anything about the accident other than being removed from the vehicle.
The driver of the white vehicle, Chad Howe, 41, of 920 Anchorage Road #109, Warsaw, said he had stopped in the left turn lane at the intersection before getting the green light to proceded. He said he entered the intersection and was struck by Bradley’s vehicle.
One witness, a motorist who was headed east on US 30, said he saw Bradley’s truck passed him at a very high rate of speed just prior to him reaching the intersection where the accident happened.
Bradley suffered pain to his left arm, right thumb, lower right leg and his head. He was taken to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.
Howe was unresponsive after the accident and was taken to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne for a skull fracture, cuts to his face and a back injury. He was admitted to the intensive care unit at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.
Tellena Richardson, 20, of Chicago, told police she was pregnant and was suffering from abdominal pain. She was taken to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.
Jennifer Walton-Harris, 21, of Chicago, suffered a broken foot, a broken finger and other bruises and abrasions. She was taken to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.
Both Richardson and Walton-Harris said they had been sleeping when the accident happened.
Total damage was listed between $2,500 and $5,000.
Blood tests were sought for both drivers.
Warsaw Police investigated the accident. The accident report was not filed until Thursday, Jan. 2.
