Triton Basketball: Johnson, Trojans Fly Past Comets
FULTON – A strong second quarter and a big night from Ross Johnson helped Triton to a 54-36 boys basketball win Saturday over Caston.
Johnson dropped 23 points on a 7-10 performance from the floor, and added seven rebounds and five assists in his overall solid night.
Triton used a 13-2 run in the second quarter to burst out to a 21-10 halftime head after the game was tied at eight after the first quarter.
Beau Hepler added 12 points and five boards and Drew Stichter chipped in nine points and three steals in the win.
Brandon Kinser totaled 16 points and seven rebounds to lead the Comets, and Hunter Schanlaub had a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
The JV game saw Triton double up Caston 51-25. Trenton Kreft had 12 points and 11 rebounds while Hunter McIntyre had 11 points and three steals.
Triton (6-9, 2-3 HNAC) will take on undefeated LaVille Friday night in Plymouth while Caston (2-15, 0-5 HNAC) will visit Argos Tuesday night.
