Lakeview Grapplers Seventh In Own Invite
WARSAW – The Lakeview Middle School wrestling team finished seventh in its own invitational Saturday.
The Tigers lost to Maple Creek (100-15), Riverview (54-51) and Westview (64-48) in pool competition. The hosts then defeated Concord 54-30 in the seventh-place match to conclude the tournament.
The trio of Jose Velazquez, Josh Palfrey and Kyler Denney all went unbeaten on the day at 4-0 to lead Lakeview.
The quartet of Miguel Gomez, Carlos Velazquez, Garrett Sautter and Logan Smith were all 3-1 for the Tigers. Titus Hoover, along with Fiona Kerr and Sarah Northrop each finished 2-2.
In other pool match action, Riverview topped Westview 61-36, Maple Creek beat Westview 94-21 and Maple Creek defeated Riverview 99-21.
In the other pool of the tourney, Schmucker defeated Wawasee 71-45, Edgewood 103-24 and Concord 117-12. Edgewood also beat Concord 72-30, while Wawasee topped Concord 96-36 and Wawasee beat Edgewood 105-9.
Schmucker earned the team title by downing Maple Creek 72-43 in the championship match. Wawasee topped Riverview 87-24 for third place and Edgewood defeated Westview 62-52 for fifth place.
