MILFORD — The following events will take place at the Milford Public Library:
SIGN UP FOR THE ADULT READING PROGRAM NOW
“Build A Better World” this winter by participating in the 2017 Winter Adult Reading Program. For each audiobook listened to, book or Ebook read, participants can enter their name into a weekly drawing for a prize. Prizes this year will include gift certificates to Starfish Project, Ten Thousand Villages in Goshen, and Destiny Rescue in North Webster, organizations that help support women and children of poverty and abusive situations.
Since the theme is “Build A Better World,” each month the library will have a different community project for participants to contribute to. In January we are collecting toiletries for Milford Food Pantry. Anyone is welcome to make a donation, and the library will deliver everything to the Milford Food Pantry at the end of January. Each month, January through March, the library will have a new project to contribute.
Get your knitting and crochet needles and join the knitting club at the library at 1:30 p.m. Jan. 6 and 20. Learn new skills from other members and have a good conversation while stitching a new creation. Beginners are always welcome.
START OFF THE NEW YEAR WITH DIGITAL TITLES AND MUSIC
Resolve to read more this year by taking advantage of the library’s digital offerings. It’s easy to check out books, audiobooks, and movies with your library card on Overdrive, the library’s digital consortium of materials. Overdrive offers thousands of bestsellers, including nonfiction and fiction titles and collections for kids and teens. You can also download 260 songs a year from popular artists like Pentatonix, John Legend, Adele, Kenny Chesney, and more with Freegal, a music downloading service. Even better, both services are absolutely free and fines are never charged on Overdrive materials. You’ll need to use a pin number as a password for both sites, which you can get by giving the library a call at (574) 658-4312.
GET FIT WITH THE LIBRARY’S ZUMBA KIT
Get moving this winter by checking out the library’s Zumba kit for a week. The kit comes with several exercise videos and two shake weights. If Zumba isn’t your thing, the library also has cardio and yoga exercise videos along with popular workouts from the Biggest Loser and Dancing with the Stars.
