Marvin D. ‘Butch’ Ewing
Marvin D. “Butch” Ewing, 70, Columbia City, died unexpectedly early Monday morning, Oct. 10, 2016 at his home.
He was born May 13, 1946 in Fort Wayne, a son of Albert Delbert and Dorothy M. (Gay) Ewing. His formative years were spent in Whitley County. He graduated from Columbia City Joint High School.
On Aug. 20, 1965 he was united in marriage to Dianna J. Kitson. With the exception of one year in Warsaw and one year in Roanoke, they have made their home in Columbia City.
Butch worked for UPS seven years, Columbia City Police Department 10 years and since 1996 has co-owned and operated marketing promotion Ten-8 Inc. now Ewing’s LLC.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Dianna; a son, Rodney Ewing of Columbia City; three grandchildren: Kylah (Caleb Cook) Ewing, Jeffrey Ewing and Brittney (David) Kavanaugh; four great grandchildren: Annie, Hazel and Luna Kavanaugh and Carson Craig; and a sister, Mary Jean Krider of Columbia City.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Tad Ewing; and a brother, Jack Ewing.
The visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. A private family graveside service will be held at Greenhill Cemetery.
Preferred memorials are to Humane Society of Whitley County.
