Complimentary Thanksgiving Meal Offered In Warsaw
Those looking for a tasty holiday meal this Thanksgiving look no further. The Warsaw Elks #802, with the help of area businesses, will host its annual free community meal at the Warsaw Center Lake Pavillon, Thursday, Nov. 26.
The meal will begin at 11 a.m. and continue to 1 p.m. Several options will be available for guests including dine in, carry out and delivery for those who are unable to leave their homes. According to Roger Hughes, the meal has been provided for over 30 years and typically serves between 600-700 people.
Many of the favorite Thanksgiving fixings will be offered including turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, green beans, dressing, cranberry sauces and more. Desert will include pies, both sugar free and regular, to top off the holiday meal.
There is no cost for guests to enjoy a meal at the location or via carry out or delivery. Those needing a meal delivered to their home are asked to contact the Elks at (574) 267-7802 between 3-8 p.m. prior to Thanksgiving day.
For those hoping to volunteer their time, Hughes notes creating a clean-up crew each year is a major need the chapter struggles to meet. Interested volunteers are asked to arrive at the pavilion at 1 p.m. for clean up of tables, decorations and kitchen equipment. A free-will offering will also be held during the event.
“The event is predominately backed by the many businesses of the area,” explained Hughes. “Without them, we couldn’t put this on.”
Center Lake Pavilion is located at 117 E. Canal St., Warsaw.
