CROMWELL — The Cromwell Historical District has made it onto the National Register of Historic Places.
The register lists local, state and national sites of historical significance. The area listed includes Jefferson Street between Second Street and Orange Street. The official entry took place Sept. 14.
State Historic Preservation Officer Cameron F. Clark noted in a letter to Cromwell Clerk-Treasurer Robert Leamon, that state and national register certificates will be presented next August during the 2016 Indiana State Fair.
Sites listed in the register may be eligible for federal restoration and preservation grants and a degree of environmental protection.
