James Edward ‘Jim’ Sample
James Edward “Jim” Sample, 83, Leesburg, passed away at 12:45 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2020, at his residence. He was born on Oct. 27, 1937, in Marion, to Harry Frank and Lydia Pauline (Heil) Sample.
He graduated in 1955 from Marion High School and lived most of his life in the Marion area before he moved to Leesburg 20 years ago. He was formerly employed at Essex Wire & Cable in Marion for several years and then retired as a production manager from Cablec Continental Cables in Marion after ten years.
He attended the All Saints Episcopal Church in Syracuse and was the past master of the Masonic Lodge in Jonesboro.
He is survived by his daughter: Lynn (James) Poe of Marion; two sons: James Franklin (Rhonda) Sample of Gas City, and Dennis (Melissa) Sample of Jonesboro; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; lifetime companion, Judith Capes, Leesburg; sister, Mary Ruth Baker, Indianapolis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters: Virginia Patton, Marjorie Carmichael, and Esther – Richardson, and brother, Leroy Sample.
Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N. SR 15, Warsaw. Per Jim’s request, no public services will be held. Owen Family Funeral Home, SR 13 and CR 500N, North Webster, is in charge of arrangements.
Preferred memorials may be given to the Masonic Lodge # 109, Jonesboro.
