Fire Station Three To Be Completed Next Month
WARSAW — Warsaw-Wayne Fire Chief Michael Wilson shared that Fire Station Three should be completed the second week of July during the Warsaw-Wayne fire Territory Board meeting held yesterday, June 5.
While the station is nearing completion, there were some charges under review on this month’s pay application to Mosaic Building Solutions, Fort Wayne. Wilson stated that during the design phases, the sprinkler system was supposed to be placed above the ceiling with no exposed pipes. Somewhere between the design and the construction of the sprinkler system this was changed.
Ceilings in the living room and bedroom had to be dropped down six inches to fix the mistake. These changes also impacted the light fixtures in the rooms.
“Someone made a mistake so now they’re arguing about who’s going to pay for that mistake,” said Wilson. “I don’t think we should. I can agree to some of it, but I can’t agree to all of it.”
The board approved a pay application of $512,065, which did not include the items under review.
Wilson noted that due to department employees actively checking on the construction and the pay applications, this problem was able to be assessed immediately instead of at the completion of the project.
“They’re not letting anything slide,” said Wilson.” They’re doing an excellent job of spearheading this project.”
A completion date has been set for the second week of July. A community open house is scheduled for 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1.
