Merle E. Hostetler
Merle E. Hostetler, 77, Denver, and formerly of Gilead died surrounded by loving family at 2:45 p.m., Monday, September 18, 2017 at his residence.
He was born on Jan. 31, 1940 in Miami County, to Robert and Esther Hostetler.
He married on July 30, 1966 in Peru at the First Baptist Church to Patty Janeway, she preceded on Dec. 23, 2012.
He was a factory worker and a foreman at Bryan Steam Corporation for 42 years retiring in 2001.
Merle went to Peru High School. He was a member of the Moose Lodge of Peru. He attended the Walk by Faith Community Church of Roann. He enjoyed the time he shared with Elaine See. He also was a NASCAR fan and enjoyed watching many drivers. He mowed and farmed his property with John Deere tractors and maintained a beautiful home.
He is survived by his daughters: Rhonda (Nyle) Miller, Akron; Crissy (Rodney) Crist, Wabash; son, Kevin (Hayley) Hostetler, Denver; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Patty, and his brothers, Lester, Robert and Dave.
A time of visitation will be held for the family and friends of Merle from 4-8 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 20 at Hartzler Funeral Home in Akron. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 21 at the home. Burial will occur at Park Lawn Cemetery in Amboy.
