Whitko Sports Wrap: Sept. 7
Boys Tennis
Manchester was nearly perfect Thursday night, beating Whitko 5-0 in North Manchester.
Four of the courts were perfect 6-0, 6-0 sweeps while Spence Trick game up just one game in a 6-0, 6-1 result. Earning shutout wins for the Squires were Luke Donathan and Kyle Shepherd at singles and duos of Logan Parrett and Parker Wagoner and Quinn Martin and Kam Lester.
Manchester improves to 4-3 overall and 2-1 in the Three Rivers Conference, Whitko stumbles to 0-6 and 0-3.
Volleyball
Manchester and Whitko also met in volleyball, and came out with a 3-1 victory in North Manchester.
The Squires took the first two games 25-9, 25-20, then saw Whitko escape game three 28-26 before taking game four comfortably 25-12.
The Squires (5-9) had 42 kills on the night, 21 coming from Kara Kline (11) and Sydney Day (10). Kline added 12 digs and five assists. Emma West had 28 assists and 16 digs, and Zoey Ream had 14 digs.
The Wildcats (2-9) had Hannah Sikora record 32 assists, 23 digs and three aces. Kristina Slater had 23 digs and Haley Howard recorded eight kills and two aces.
Manchester won the JV game 25-14, 25-17.
Girls Golf
On a cool and rainy evening at South Shore Golf Club, the Lady Cats golf team fell to Northridge and West Noble Thursday.
Makayla Compton led the Cats with 54, Bailey Wright shot 61, Erin Starkweather had a 63 and Kayce Sims a 66. Braedyn O’Dell of Northridge was medalist with a round of 40.
