Warsaw Man Arrested After Shooting Firearm At Vehicle, Injuring Woman
WARSAW — A Warsaw man was arrested last night after allegedly shooting a firearm at a vehicle.
Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Deputies responded last evening at approximately 8:47 p.m. to a 911 call and text related to a possible shooting incident at the location of 1544 West CR 400N, Warsaw. Officers arrived, and met with the homeowner, Aaron Michael Phillips, 35, along with two juveniles from inside the residence. During the initial investigation, deputies were also summoned to the parking lot directly in front of the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department.
There, officers located a white, Ford F-150 pickup truck, driven by Rodney I. Fuller, Jr., 50, Nappanee, and a passenger, Rhonda Pearl Harrington, 34, Nappanee. Harrington was found to have injuries from broken glass in her eye, and was transported to the Kosciusko Community Hospital for treatment.
Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Detectives stated that as they obtained search warrants for the pickup truck, as well as for the residence of Phillips. Officers stated that various witness statements, along with evidence that was secured, subsequently led detectives to arrest and preliminarily charge Phillips with felony criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon. Phillips is currently being held in the Kosciusko County Jail on a $5,250 bond.
Investigators believe that during the course of the evening, a verbal argument ensued to a point that Harrington had contacted Fuller to come to the CR 400N residence to assist her with leaving. As Harrington was inside Fuller’s vehicle preparing to leave, Phillips allegedly fired two shots from a handgun, into an unknown direction. As the pickup truck began to pull-away, Phillips then discharged the weapon again, but this time firing at the vehicle and striking the passenger front window causing it to shatter.
The Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office advises that the defendant’s charge is merely an accusation and that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
