Craig Sparks Vikings To First Victory
DENVER – The Tippecanoe Valley football team got into the win column Friday night.
A big game from quarterback Alec Craig sparked the Vikings past North Miami 32-23 in a Three Rivers Conference contest.
The win was the first for new Valley coach Darin Holsopple, who was hired in July to take over the program.
The Vikings, now 1-2 overall and 1-0 in the TRC, led 10-9 at halftime before outscoring the winless Warriors 22-14 in the second half.
Craig passed for a pair of touchdowns and ran for two more in the win. He was 13-25 passing for 185 yards and carried the ball six times for 64 yards.
Garrett Bell had 18 carries for 81 yards for the Vikings. Brandon Webster added 17 yards on five rushes and DeSean Heckman had 15 yards on two attempts.
The duo of Heckman and Jarod Duzenbery each had a touchdown catch for Valley. Webster led the receivers with seven receptions for 81 yards. Heckman had three catches for 54 yards and Duzenbery two for 37. Rigo Butler had one catch for 13 yards.
Luca Jeckstadt kicked a 29-yard field goal and was 3-for-3 on PAT attempts for Valley.
North Miami beat the Vikings 41-22 a year ago, the lone win for the Warriors in a 1-9 season.
Valley hosts Northfield and North Miami (0-3, 0-1) plays at Southwood in TRC games next Friday night.
