Warsaw Goes 1-1 In Own Tourney
WARSAW – The Warsaw baseball team wrapped up regular-season play Saturday by going 1-1 in the Tiger Classic.
The Tigers rallied to edge past DeKalb 5-4 in an opening round game.
Warsaw scored three runs in their final at bat in the seventh inning to earn the win in their first game of the tournament.
James Brandes notched the pitching win in relief for the Tigers. Justin Oberlin paced the offense for the hosts with two hits.
Warsaw then lost 11-6 to Penn in the championship contest.
Caleb Moneyheffer led the Tigers with two hits, including a home run.
Brandon Shipp and Oberlin each also had two hits in the title game. Tyler LaFollette took the pitching loss for the Tigers.
Warsaw concludes the regular season with a record of 10-15.
Penn improves to 23-4 on the season with its two wins on Saturday.
The Tigers will play Northridge on Saturday, May 31 at 1 p.m. in a semifinal bye game of the Class 4-A Elkhart Memorial Sectional.
