WARSAW — The Warsaw Housing Authority awarded an 802 Center Apartments resident with the 2025 Good Housekeeping Award Grand Prize on Wednesday, Dec. 10.
Margie Arrington, Warsaw, was the recipient of the award. She received a framed certificate and a $100 Walmart gift card. WHA and 802 Center Apartments threw a party for her and other apartment residents.
For the Good Housekeeping Awards, Section 8 tenants have Tom Bulger, North Central Indiana Housing inspector, visit their homes every year. If things are clean and well-maintained they receive a Good Housekeeping Award, and their name is entered into a drawing for the yearly Good Housekeeping Award grand prize. The grand prize winner is selected in December each year.

Arrington was brought down by her sister-in-law and surprised by her neighbors and WHA with a surprise party with cupcakes, cookies, and other treats.
“I feel flabbergasted. I feel really honored,” Arrington said about winning the award.
When asked what she was going to do with her Walmart gift card, Arrington replied, “I’m going to buy my nieces and nephews their Christmas presents.”
Her sister-in-law cut in, “I’ll make her use it on herself.”
“No, she won’t,” Arrington responded, laughing.
Vicki Haines, housing program manager, said about the Good Housekeeping Award, “It encourages our tenants to take care of their units, which makes our landlords happy, and we want happy landlords.”
Malorie Kraighbaum, property manager for 802 Center Apartments, said, “We’re senior preferred here… We work with Housing because we had people who need it and qualify with them can have housing assistance. We work with the residents, and we work with Housing just to coordinate everything.”
WHA is always in need of more landlords to participate in the Housing Choice Voucher Rental Assistance program, Section 8. Landlords who are interested in renting to families and individuals with housing vouchers can call (574) 269-7641.
