ASHLEY — Refreshed Tech, a fast-growing electronics refurbishment company based in northeast Indiana, has expanded its operations and workforce.
The company’s growth has been fueled by a surge of devices entering the resale market after the COVID-19 pandemic, when many schools issued one-to-one laptops and tablets to students.
Founded three years ago by entrepreneur Kyle Wainwright, the company began with 20 employees in a 7,000-square-foot facility in Angola. It now employs about 130 people and recently relocated to a 105,000-square-foot building in Ashley. Refreshed Tech buys used computers, phones, and other devices, many from schools, and refurbishes them for resale across international markets.
Refreshed Tech now works with hundreds of clients worldwide and sells through multiple e-commerce channels in more than 50 countries. Last year, Refreshed Tech partnered with North Carolina-based Ovation Wireless Management, allowing Ovation’s clients to trade in devices that are processed and tracked through Refreshed Tech’s platform.
The company handles 400 to 500 devices each month through the partnership. With the increasing cost of new technology and ongoing supply pressures, Wainwright said more schools and organizations are turning to refurbished devices as a cost-saving and sustainable option.
Refreshed Tech is continuing to grow its workforce, adding 10 new positions this week to prepare for the holiday season.
