WARSAW — Kosciusko County Purdue Extension Homemakers’ annual holiday program was full of conversation and laughter on Wednesday, Nov. 5.
This year’s theme was “Wrapping Up Christmas,” and attendees learned ways to use things around the house to wrap gifts and make crafts.
Judy Egolf said, “It’s been a really great experience, learning how to wrap all different things in unique ways using stuff you already have stored at home that make you go, ‘When am I ever going to use this?’”
Marvene Johnson and Amy Rumschlag, the new 4-H educator, were the morning presenters who demonstrated the different ways to wrap and present gifts. Their presentations were followed by lunch and a craft. Participants were given the choice of three crafts: a fabric gift bag, recycled sweater trees, or ornaments. Rumschlag is Johnson’s daughter, and participants were excited that she is following in her mother’s footsteps.
Sandy Monroe and her friend from Lake County made the trip to Warsaw to attend the annual holiday program.
“My friend and I have been coming for five years,” said Monroe. “We always enjoy driving here and doing the crafts … and the lunch is always delicious.”
Alice Keirn, Kosciusko County Extension Homemakers’ public relations chair, wants the public to know that their programs are open to “anybody and everybody.” The Home Extension offers educational programs throughout the year.
