GOSHEN — The glow of the holiday season will shine brighter than ever as the beloved Goshen Light Parade returns to downtown Goshen for November First Fridays.
Organized by Downtown Goshen, Inc., the Light Parade will be from 5-9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7. It brings the community together with friends, neighbors, and family to celebrate the illuminated spirit of the holiday season.
Member merchants spotlight holiday items for First Friday shoppers, and comfort foods, soups, warm drinks, and other hearty, cold-night options are featured at downtown eateries. Food trucks are on-hand with additional food options, and — starting at 7:30 p.m. — various Elkhart County businesses, schools, nonprofit organizations, clubs, entertainers, and civic groups power up a headlining array of lighted floats and presentations to create a breathtaking procession along Main Street.
After the parade, the Elephant Bar at 227 S. Main St. presents a 9 p.m. nightcap with live music by Somewhere South of Here, Hav Musuvs, and Jagalchi. The Light Parade theme continues throughout the weekend with storefront light displays and additional shopping deals, and the spirit of the parade carries into the City of Goshen’s annual Holiday Open House on Sunday, Nov. 9.
“The Light Parade has grown into one of our most anticipated and highly attended events, because everyone loves a good parade, and Goshen knows how to throw one,” said Director of First Fridays, Amanda Rose. “We’ve had great participation with local organizations and residents throughout the year, but this is a First Fridays event where I think due to excitement for the holidays, and the hometown creativity we see with all the parade entries there’s an extra amount of joy. The cold weather won’t stop Elkhart County residents from celebrating with their families, friends, and neighbors.”
The Light Parade starts at 7:30 p.m. at the intersection of 5th and Clinton Streets. The Parade proceeds West to Main Street, then south on Main to Jefferson Street. The parade turns east on Jefferson and ends at 5th Street.
When finding spots to enjoy the Light Parade, First Fridays revelers are asked to not block intersections, or the Police Station exits.
