Claypool Man Arrested for Alleged Battery, Residential Entry

CLAYPOOL – A Claypool man has been arrested for alleged battery and residential entry.

Austin Lee King, 34, 517 E. 800S, Claypool, is charged with battery, a class B misdemeanor; and residential entry, a level 6 felony.
On Nov. 1, Kosciusko County dispatch advised of a battery at a residence near Claypool.
Officers were advised that King was in the caller’s home and had shoved someone to the ground. The caller also advised that King had taken off on foot.
According to court documents, when officers arrived at the residence, deputies spoke with the caller, who said they received multiple telephone calls and texts from King. The caller explained they were inside the residence with the victim, when the dogs started barking.
The victim slightly opened the door, which is when King forced his way into the home. This force sent the victim to the ground, and they stated that King and the caller argued. The victim got between them, and King hit the victim in the face, causing them to have jaw pain. Officers spoke with King, who said he did not leave his mother’s house all night, and then admitted he went to the caller’s residence once and knew the victim was there.
King is currently in the Kosciusko County Jail, and is awaiting his initial hearing at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 6.
