BREMEN – A Bremen man was arrested for allegedly molesting a child.
Jorge Luis Lara Garcia, 27, 104 Rob Court, Bremen, is charged with child molesting, a level 1 felony.
On Oct. 14, a Bremen Police officer received a report from a Marshall County Sheriff’s Office detective about a child molestation.
According to court documents, Lara Garcia met up with a child at the Blueberry Festival in Plymouth after allegedly developing a relationship with the child through social media.
After leaving the festival, Lara and the child went to a residence in Bremen and engaged in sexual conduct.
In an interview with law enforcement, Lara denied talking with the child and said someone else must have used his social media account to speak with them.
Upon a search of the child’s school-issued iPad, Lara attempted to contact the child through their friends. In the messages, Lara said he still wanted to have a relationship with the child but that it needed to wait until “the police investigation cooled down.” The message was timestamped Oct. 15, which was when a search warrant was executed and Lara was interviewed by police.
Lara was booked in the Marshall County Jail on Oct. 17.
