WARSAW – A Warsaw man was arrested for allegedly battering two people while under the influence.
Ronnie J. Schuh, 41, 478 Clinic Court, Warsaw, is charged with strangulation and domestic battery committed in the presence of a child, both level 6 felonies; and operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a class C misdemeanor.
On Oct. 26, Warsaw Police officers responded to an altercation at a residence. Upon arrival, officers spoke with Schuh, who said he had a verbal argument with a woman and man.
According to court documents, Schuh said the incident was not physical and that the woman slapped herself. One police officer witnessed Schuh driving and noticed he was showing physical signs of intoxication.
Schuh failed one field sobriety test but passed two others. He tested 0.15% BrAC on a portable breath test.
A child at the residence said they were playing video games with headphones on when they heard Schuh and the woman arguing. At one point, the woman placed her hand on the child’s shoulder and Schuh grabbed the woman’s arm to forcibly remove it from their shoulder. The child said the woman did not hurt them.
Officers spoke with the woman, whose right ear and elbow were bleeding. She said Schuh began yelling at a man and that Schuh pushed her into a bedroom when she approached him. The woman told police her head hit the wall, and officers noticed a small dent in the drywall. As the incident continued, the woman said she saw Schuh place the man in a chokehold. During the struggle, a television was broken.
The man told police that Schuh became aggressive toward him, grabbing him by the neck in a chokehold and dragging him to the ground. He sustained a laceration to his arm during the incident.
Schuh has already been arrested and released on bond.
