Columbia City Man Arrested For Allegedly Burglarizing Church

COLUMBIA CITY – A Columbia City man was arrested for allegedly burglarizing a church in Whitley County.
Gregory K. Short, 22, 305 N. Main St., Columbia City, is charged with burglary, a level 5 felony; and theft, a class a misdemeanor.
Around 4 a.m. Oct. 7, Columbia City Police officers responded to a burglary report at the Columbia City Church of the Nazarene. A woman said a man was inside the church’s sanctuary, stealing items.
Upon arrival, officers located the man and identified him as Short.
According to court documents, Short said he stole some money from the church and was attempting to help a relative. The woman who reported the incident told police Short had been entering the church “quite a bit in the last six to eight weeks.”
Short admitted to stealing money, LED lights, and some drinks while he was inside the church.
At the time of this incident, Short was on probation in Whitley County for a separate burglary case.
Short was booked in the Whitley County Jail on Oct. 7.
