Career Expo Helps Students Find Success
News Release
FORT WAYNE – On Tuesday and Wednesday, Nov. 4 and 5, more than 8,600 middle and high school students from 12 counties across northern Indiana will gather at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum for JA JobSpark.
JA JobSpark is a career expo presented by JPMorgan Chase with participation from more than 100 local businesses. The hands-on event is meant to ignite curiosity and inspire students as they explore future career options.
Students will interact with professionals across eight industry clusters, engaging in activities, live demonstrations and discussions with experts. The immersive experience is intended to help students understand the skills and education paths needed to thrive in the workforce.
New this year, the Don Wood Foundation is joining as the presenting sponsor for the Advanced Manufacturing, Engineering and Logistics Career Cluster.
Prior to the event, students complete career interest assessments and lessons on employable skills.
“JA JobSpark is an incredible opportunity to ignite curiosity and confidence in our youth as they explore their paths toward future career success,” said Lena Yarian, president of Junior Achievement of Northern Indiana. “We’re honored to collaborate with so many local businesses that bring learning to life through hands-on experiences and open students’ eyes to possibilities they may have never imagined.”
“JA JobSpark has become a transformative experience for East Allen County Schools,” said Marilyn Hissong, superintendent of East Allen County Schools. “For the past five years, we’ve proudly brought our students because this event gives them a powerful glimpse into their future. The hands-on career exploration and direct interaction with professionals help students connect what they’re learning in the classroom to real-world opportunities. It equips them with the knowledge and confidence to make informed decisions about their paths forward, and that impact is truly invaluable.”
