“Congratulations to this group who are dedicated to upholding the Constitution and defending the rule of law. Like Lady Justice, who is blind to bias and devoted to fairness, you’ll guide clients and strengthen our communities,” Rokita said. “Welcome to this noble profession – we’re excited for the impact you’ll make in shaping a just Indiana.”
United States District Court Judge for the Southern District of Indiana Sarah Evans Barker shared the feelings of one of her first legal clerks, Andy Cheng raised in Muncie, about the small but noble attributes that lawyers should possess, which include telling the truth, being honest and being willing to listen, even when you don’t have all the answers.
The new lawyers present were sworn into the Indiana attorney oath. The speakers stressed the importance of their work and the traits they should exemplify to support Indiana’s legal profession and the law.
