Warsaw Man Charged With Alleged Forgery

SYRACUSE – A Warsaw man has been arrested for allegedly committing forgery.

Bradley Victor Waikel, 36, Warsaw, is charged with forgery, a level 6 felony.
On July 10, Syracuse Police officers responded to a forgery case at Lake City Bank and spoke with an employee. They stated that a man, identified as Waikel, came through the drive-thru and presented a check written from the victim. The check was written for $3,068 and signed by the victim, to which Waikel requested it be deposited into his account.
According to court documents, the employee contacted the victim, who stated they did not write the check to Waikel. The employee advised their supervisor, and Waikel left. Officers spoke with the victim who stated they wrote the check from her checking account on July 9, placing it and three other pieces of mail in her mailbox at the end of her street. The check was written to pay a bill, and the victim does not know how Waikel got a hold of it.
On July 18, officers spoke with Waikel, who stated he received the check from his boss, but was unable to provide contact information for the boss. Officers were also unable to locate Waikel’s alleged boss.
Waikel has been arrested and is in Kosciusko County Jail.
Waikel has several prior convictions, one of which was a theft conviction in 2011.
