Two People Transported To Hospital After Steuben County Accident
News Release
ANGOLA – Two people were injured after a two-vehicle accident in Steuben County Wednesday afternoon.
Just before 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22, an Indiana State Police trooper was in the area of US 20 and CR 20N in Steuben County. After hearing two loud crash sounds, the trooper could see vehicles and smoke coming from a few hundred yards away. Arriving on scene almost immediately, the trooper noticed three vehicles with heavy damage and injured people in the vehicles. The trooper continued to evaluate the scene and care for the injured.
Preliminary investigation showed Brittany Bauer, Fort Wayne, was driving a 2017 Ford SUV east on US 20 near CR 20N, and for an unknown reason, crossed the center line and collided head-on with a westbound 2019 Ford Utility truck driven by Joshua Pfeiffer, Columbia City.
After this initial collision, the 2019 Ford ended up crossing the center line, hitting an eastbound 2020 Chevrolet SUV driven by Dmitrii Skidanov, Russia. As a result of the crash, Bauer and Skidanov were taken to an area hospital for medical treatment and were in stable condition.
At this point, it does not appear that drugs or alcohol were a factor, but the investigation is still ongoing. No other information is available at this time.
ISP was assisted on scene by the Steuben County Sheriff’s Department, Angola Fire Department, Steuben County EMS, and Bill’s Towing and Recovery. ISP would also like to thank several good Samaritans who stopped to help.
