Staff Report

Juan Carlos Acuahuitl
NORTH WEBSTER – A North Webster man was recently arrested for allegedly engaging in inappropriate conduct with a child.
Juan Carlos Acuahuitl, 24, 8410 E. Sumac Lane, North Webster, is charged with sexual misconduct with a minor, a level 6 felony.
On April 21, the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office received a report from a Department of Child Services caseworker about sexual misconduct. A child said they attended a gathering on Dec. 31, 2023, and that they laid down to rest.
According to court documents, the child said at some point, Acuahuitl laid next to them and inappropriately touched them.
The child participated in a forensic interview at Safe Harbor Children’s Advocacy Center on April 28 and detailed what occurred to the interviewer.
In an interview on May 29, Acuahuitl said he was “very sad and intoxicated” the night of the incident. He admitted to having his arm around the child but said he was hugging them and squeezed their shoulder. Acuahuitl also admitted to having the urge to kiss them but said he realized he was doing something wrong when he saw the look on the child’s face.
He said he later called the child and apologized for his actions.
Acuahuitl was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Oct. 24.
