Pierceton Woman Arrested for Causing Serious Bodily Injury

CLAYPOOL – A Pierceton woman has been arrested for allegedly causing injuries to herself and others while driving under the influence.

Briana Lynn Morgan, 34, 300 S. SR 13, Pierceton, is charged with causing serious bodily injury when operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, a level 5 felony.
On July 8, Kosciusko County dispatch advised of a two-vehicle accident on Packerton Road. Deputies responded to the accident, observing a Chevrolet and Jeep. Inside the Chevrolet, officers saw Morgan unconscious in her vehicle, along with three children.
According to court documents, Morgan was flown to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, and a search warrant was obtained for a certified chemical test. The Jeep driver and passenger were also transported to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne for treatment. When speaking with the Jeep’s owner, they stated they were driving northbound on Packerton Road and Morgan’s Chevrolet, that was traveling southbound, drove left of the center line for an unknown reason, causing a head-on collision with the Jeep.
When Morgan’s certified chemical test came back, she tested negative for alcohol, but positive for THC at the time of the crash.
Morgan was arrested on Oct. 17 and has been released on bond.
