Elkhart County

Officers with the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accident:

• 7:26 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22, US 6 and CR 17, New Paris. Drivers: Richard Bontrager, 66, New Paris; Devon Love, 26, Goshen; and Jessica Baker, 36, Nappanee. Bontrager was westbound in a Mack dump trump and attempting to overtake a slow-moving farm tractor when his truck collided with the front of Love’s Toyota Scion. Baker’s Ford Mustang then collided with Love’s vehicle. Baker complained of arm pain. Bontrager was cited for driving left of center.

Fulton County

Officers with the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accidents:

• 12:06 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22, East CR 400S and South CR 200E, Rochester. Driver: Joshua D. Masterson, 32, Macy. Masterson was driving when a deer hit the back of his vehicle, causing him to veer off and hit a field post.

• 10:01 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, East SR 14 and South CR 1000E, Akron. Driver information unknown. A bus hit a deer.

• 7:50 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, North SR 17 and West CR 475N, Rochester. Driver: Ava A. Taylor, 16, Kewanna. Taylor’s vehicle hit a deer.

Whitley County

Officers with the Whitley County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accident:

• 10:33 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, SR 205, at Blue Lake Road, Churubusco. Drivers: Paula A. Murphy, 67, Churubusco; and Brian C. O’Connor, 53, Columbia City. Murphy was traveling south on SR 205 and was attempting to turn left onto Blue Lake Road when she failed to yield to O’Connor’s motorcycle, which was traveling north. O’Connor was pronounced deceased at the scene. Murphy was taken to Parkview Whitley Hospital for unknown injuries.
