News Release
WINONA LAKE – Freshen up your feathered identification skills by joining the Tippecanoe Audubon Society and the Lilly Center for Lakes & Streams for “Expedition: Winter Bird Identification.”
This first-time collaborative event will take place at the Lilly Center at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4.
Some birds are traveling south for the winter, but many birds are still here. In collaboration with the Tippecanoe Audubon Society, attendees will learn methods and tools to observe and identify birds. Attendees can also expect to deepen their understanding of how local bird populations change from summertime to wintertime, and what birds are expected to be seen during the winter in different local habitats.
Beginner birders are especially encouraged to attend.
The speakers at the event will be Suzanne Beyeler and Dave Hicks. Beyeler is an associate professor of biology and environmental science at the Indiana Institute of Technology, and Hicks is an associate professor emeritus at Manchester University. Hicks is also the organizer of the Tippecanoe Audubon Christmas Bird Count.
Snacks will be provided.
