Warsaw Man Arrested On OWI, Drug Possession Charges

WARSAW — A Warsaw man was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence and possessing drugs.
Chad Everett Swope, 48, 3762 W. Old Road 30 Lot 34E, Warsaw, is charged with possession of methamphetamine, a level 6 felony; possession of paraphernalia and operating a vehicle while intoxicated, both class C misdemeanors; and possession of methamphetamine with a prior dealing conviction, a level 5 felony.
On Sept. 24, an Indiana State Police trooper was patrolling in Warsaw when he saw a vehicle with an inoperable headlight and pulled it over. Swope was identified as the vehicle’s driver.
According to court documents, Swope was exhibiting physical signs of intoxication. A Winona Lake Police officer arrived to assist at the scene.
Swope failed two field sobriety tests and passed one. A K9 unit at the scene alerted to illegal drugs inside Swope’s vehicle. Upon searching the vehicle, officers found drug paraphernalia that tested positive for meth.
Swope was previously convicted of dealing meth in Kosciusko County in February 2020.
Swope has already been arrested and released on bond.
