SIDNEY — A Wabash man was arrested for allegedly entering two homes without permission and stealing a vehicle.
Daniel Ybarra Jr., 42, 658 W. Main St., Wabash, is charged with two counts of residential entry and auto theft, all level 6 felonies.
On Aug. 16, a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to a burglary at a residence on SR 13. A woman said she was in her home when she heard the front door open.
According to court documents, when the woman walked into her garage, she saw Ybarra hiding underneath her vehicle. The woman told Ybarra to get out of her home and grabbed a mallet. Ybarra then fled on foot.
Approximately nine hours later, on Aug. 17, a KCSO deputy responded to a vehicle theft at a residence on SR 14. The owner said his vehicle was gone from his driveway and an interior door at his home was open.
Law enforcement located the vehicle on West Channel Road.
In an interview on Sept. 9, Ybarra admitted to stealing the vehicle and entering the woman’s home. He said he wasn’t going to steal anything at the residence and that he just wanted to look around. When he ran from the woman’s home, he found keys in a vehicle, driving it to the Sellers Lake area.
Ybarra was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Sept. 26.
