News Release
SYRACUSE— Living in Transition Effectively will return to Syracuse Public Library with a table of invaluable resources from 3-5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, in the upstairs sitting area. A nonprofit organization, L.I.T.E. is dedicated to walking alongside individuals on their journey to recovery, healing and successful reentry into the community.
Those facing addiction or their families are invited to visit the L.I.T.E. table and learn more about its Recovery Cafe and other resources.

Children
Preschoolers can enjoy stories during story time at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, in the children’s department. Each session focuses on a letter of the alphabet and includes a craft. Along the way, children enjoy play and songs.
Home-schooled children will continue their language unit at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, in the downstairs meeting room. This session will focus on tall tales.
Teens
Learn Something New Club meets from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 13, in the Rosalyn Jones Room. During each session, teens will learn a new life skill that will benefit them as they get older. In October, the group will continue learning proper typing in addition to spelling.
The young adult board game night will feature “Scream Park,” created by DVC Games. From 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, teens can learn how to play and create the ultimate haunted attraction. Strategically design the perfect horror experience to impress your boss and terrify your visitors. Merge rooms, refine layouts and master the art of fright. Teens can also play other games.
Adults
Players of all skill levels — including learners — are invited to the library’s mahjong tables at 1 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays in the downstairs meeting room.
The Kosciusko County Purdue Extension Office will return to SPL with part two of its “Smartphones Basics” program from 1-2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, in the downstairs meeting room. The program will provide participants with essential knowledge to effectively navigate and maximize the use of their mobile devices. This session focuses on app navigation and camera functions. Register for this session by calling the extension office at (574) 372-2340.
Roaming Readers meets from 10-11 a.m. every Friday at the library’s front doors before embarking on a leisurely walk around town. The group is encouraged to share what they are reading during the walk.
Bring your family trees to “Trees and Teatime” from 2:30-3:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17, in the downstairs meeting room. Spend a quiet hour researching while enjoying a spot of tea. Sarah Wright will help with any research questions.

Chess Club
The all-ages chess club meets from 4-5 p.m. every Friday in the downstairs meeting room. Players of all skill levels are invited to attend this cross-generational club. Robert Rensberger has also gotten a new chess clock for timed chess fun.
