NORTH WEBSTER — Witches and warlocks took over North Webster Town Park for a fun, festive event Saturday afternoon, Oct. 11.
The witches paddle saw kayakers, paddelboarders and more take a cruise around Webster Lake. Those who choose not to paddle, got a ride on The Dixie.
According to Leigh Anne Jessop, the “Witches Paddle” started off with just a few women four years ago, but has grown. Jessop, who helped organize the event, stated the “Witches Paddle” has turned into a fall fundraiser for the North Webster Food Pantry. People donated canned goods for the organization.
People were lined up by noon to catch a 1 p.m. ride on The Dixie. Due to the popularity, two cruises took place.
The “witches” gathered up paddles instead of broomsticks and took off across Webster Lake on their kayaks, canoes and paddle boards. Meanwhile, the other guests helped themselves to cookies or a drink, courtesy of The River Coffeehouse, at the park’s pavilion.
