WARSAW — A Warsaw man was arrested for allegedly battering a woman who required surgery for her injuries.
Jacob Ross Suber, 30, 418 S. Washington St., Warsaw, is charged with domestic battery resulting in serious bodily injury, a level 5 felony; domestic battery committed in the presence of a child, a level 6 felony; and criminal mischief, a class B misdemeanor.
On Sept. 21, Warsaw Police officers responded to a fight at a residence. Upon arrival, officers spoke with a woman, who had a nosebleed and complained of extreme pain. Officers noticed the woman’s nose was misshaped and swollen.
According to court documents, the woman said Suber hit her head multiple times with a closed fist. He also grabbed her cellphone and threw it, causing the screen to shatter. During the incident, Suber punched the woman’s nose, causing her to lose her balance and grab the turn signal in a vehicle. This resulted in the turn signal breaking.
Medical personnel at a hospital determined the woman’s nose was broken in two places, requiring surgery.
A witness who called 911 said she saw Suber grab a fistful of the woman’s hair and pull her from a vehicle.
A child at the scene said they saw Suber raise a closed fist and hit the woman’s head multiple times.
Suber told police he was attempting to stop the woman from throwing parts out of her vehicle by grabbing her by the hair. He alleged the woman hit him, which caused him to hit her back. Suber also said he was kicked in the shin, and officers noted his chest was red and that he sustained a small cut to his shin.
Suber was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Sept. 21.
